Happy St Paddy’s Day Detroit! We hope you got a chance to experience the Detroit St Patrick’s Day Parade, but if you missed out, there will be lots of fun events this weekend all around the metro area. Before you head out to the celebrations, tune into WJR-760 AM tonight at 7 p.m. to hear from some of Detroit’s best and brightest. Here’s a quick rundown of tonight’s show.
We’re welcoming Campbell Ewald home to Detroit. Marketing Communications Agency Campbell Ewald is moving back where it belongs – right in the heart of Detroit. Campbell Ewald is one of the largest agencies in the United States with clients like the United States Postal Service, General Motors, Alltel Wireless, and even the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). The 102-year-old agency is taking up a new residence at Ford Field. They’ll be moving more than 600 employees to the Motor City, and Chief Client Officer Jim Palmer will be on tonight’s show to tell us all about it. Learn more about Campbell Ewald by visiting www.c-e.com, or by tuning in tonight, of course.
Downtown housing is in high demand. Last year, the historic Broderick Tower underwent a $53 million renovation. Erick Novack is the building manager of Motown Construction Inc., and he’ll be on the show to give us the inside scoop on the renovation. Since reopening in November 2011, Broderick Tower has become one of the most in-demand places live in the downtown area. Quicken Loans’ own Matt Pruitt is one of the lucky residents who snagged a unit in the 34-story building, and he’ll join our hosts to give you a first-hand view of downtown luxury living. Learn more about Broderick Tower and apply to become a resident at www.BroderickTower.com.
Are you looking to spruce up bare walls? Are you looking to do it for free? Free Art Friday Detroit (FAFDET) is a weekly public art scavenger hunt that promotes awareness of Detroit’s creative community. The event was initiated by Skidmore Studio, and we’ll be hearing more about it from Skidmore Studio’s Vice President Gary Spondike, as well as Sara Frey, a Marketing Strategist and FAFDET organizer. Here’s how it works:
- An artist creates a custom piece of art.
- They hide the art somewhere in the city.
- The artist posts a photo clue of the hiding place to the FAFDET Facebook Page, and tweets the clue with #FAFDET.
- The first person to find the piece can take the artwork home for free.
So basically, this is a great way to get great, free, local art. And since today is Friday, make sure to head on over to the FAFDET Facebook page or find #FAFDET on Twitter to participate.
It’s opening night for the Park Players! If you’re looking for great entertainment this weekend, don’t forget to check out the Park Players’ production of Dreamgirls. The Park Players have been putting on shows in Detroit since the early 1950s, and their production includes residents from all over Southeast Michigan. President Steven Spencer, Vice President Mary Davis, and Director Yolanda Jack will be joining our hosts on the show so that you can hear about the production, which opens tonight. Dreamgirls runs every weekend (except Easter) through April 6th, so you’ll have lots of chances to see it. You can learn more about Detroit’s oldest community theater or get ticket information on their website.
Don’t forget to tune in this Friday evening, March 15, at 7:00 p.m. ET for all that and more!
