Opportunity Detroit Logo2 Opportunity Detroit: The Motor City is a Great Place to BeChange takes time, but Detroit’s looking better every day. With new businesses popping up like dandelions and Detroiters coming together to help each other out, we can’t think of any place we’d rather be. To bring you the lowdown on all that’s good in the D, Paul W. Smith (WJR) and Stephen Luigi Piazza (Quicken Loans) will return to the airwaves for their weekly Opportunity Detroit show. Tune into WJR-760 AM at 7 p.m. tonight so you don’t miss anything! Here’s a quick rundown of tonight’s show.

The auto show just left Detroit but the Motor City Golf Show is right around the corner! It might be cold in Detroit but golfers are already gearing up for springtime golf sessions. This weekend, February 15-17, the Motor City Golf Show will be at Cobo Center for the very first time to welcome golf fanatics from all over the Detroit area. Corey Byron, PGA Professional and President of Mobile Golf Promotions, is responsible for bringing the show to Detroit, and he’ll be on the show to tell us all about it. The show will feature fantastic displays and exhibits, as well as travel deals and even some state-of-the-art golf simulators! So if you’re looking for new clubs, balls, golf accessories or even just advice from the pros, stop by the Motor City Golf Show this weekend. Find more information at www.MotorCityGolfShow.com.

Planning a family reunion in Detroit? You’ll want to hear this! Nikki Donald and Deanna Majchrzak, both of the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (DMCVB) will be spreading the word about their fabulous Family Reunion Planning Seminar. The DMCVB, a non-profit that promotes Detroit as a convention, business meeting and tourism destination, holds this seminar annually to help Detroiters plan family reunions. This year’s seminar will take place on Saturday, March 23rd at Greater Grace Temple. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a variety of vendors to learn about planning a successful reunion, and they’ll also learn about the free services offered by the DMCVB. Register for the seminar or learn more at www.MeetDetroit.com.

Corinne and Beth are bringing exercise straight to you. Corinne Rice and Beth James, the co-founders of Pop Up Yoga, believe that yoga is the key to creating a healthier community. Their innovative new business offers yoga classes all around the city, seven days a week, and payment is on a donation-only basis. They offer classes at a variety of locations around the city, and since they don’t have a lease to pay, they’re able to offer classes for a very low cost. To find out where they’ll be hosting classes, visit their website or Facebook page, and tune in to learn more!

Help another business grow its roots here. Stephen Roginson, the owner and head brewer of Batch Brewing Company, found an unusual way to start his new business: He’s holding a crowd-funding campaign to raise money for his start-up. Batch Brewing will be Detroit’s first nano brewery. To help them get started, you can make a donation to receive a variety of gifts like bumper stickers, hats, t-shirts, drinking mugs, or even a beer-and-live-music-party for you and your friends. We get really excited every time a new business sets up shop in Detroit, so visit their website or Facebook page to see how you can help. And don’t forget to listen tonight to learn exactly what a nano brewery is!

Don’t forget to tune in this Friday evening, February 15, at 7:00 p.m. ET for all that and more!
